At Fitness First, the safety of our members and staff is our number one priority. We have put an extensive range of protective measures in place (as listed above). These include (but not limited to); increased cleaning specifications, hygiene stations placed in every area of the club, adhering to social distancing guidelines, a strict “no towel, no train policy” and closure of non-essential areas.
In addition, our staff have completed the Australian Government COVID-19 Infection and Prevention Control training, and will be issued with optional masks, disposable gloves and extensive cleaning kits ready for use.
Group Exercise classes are capped in order to maintain appropriate social distancing. This will differ by class and club. Class bookings are no longer required in VIC, QLD and ACT clubs and places are offered on a first come, first served basis, so be sure to arrive early and secure your spot. In NSW, class bookings can be made via the Member Bookings portal. In addition, class times are spaced at least 15 minutes apart to allow for cleaning and sanitisation. On arrival, please avoid congregating around the studio entry. We recommend you bring your own mat, particularly when attending Yoga and Pilates classes. Please bring only the essentials (towel, water bottle).
Wearing a mask is your choice and not mandatory according to the Federal Government. However this is a developing situation and regulations differ in each state, so please refer to state government websites for updates.
It’s important that you swipe into the club when visiting. This will allow us to trace when you have entered and left the club, should the data be required by the Department of Health. We also encourage members to download the Government COVIDSafe app. VIC members will also need to complete an additional QR code check in, as required by the state government.
Fitness First follows all State Health recommendations and guidelines in relation to this matter. The relevant State Health Department will inform Fitness First if an individual who visited our clubs has tested positive for COVID-19. Fitness First will provide the State Health Department with the details of all members, guests and staff. The relevant State Health Department will contact members who are required to self-isolate or monitor for symptoms as a result of potentially being in contact with the member. The Fitness First club will undergo a thorough process of deep cleaning, in addition to the increased daily cleaning, and then be cleared by the Health Department for reopening.
These will vary and change depending on State regulations. We will also keep you informed as these changes are made on social media and via email.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends hygiene and other measures to reduce the general risk of infection:
Frequently cleaning hands by using alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water
When coughing and sneezing cover mouth or nose with flexed elbow or tissue - throw tissue away immediately and wash hands
Avoiding close contact with anyone who has a fever or cough
If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing seek medical care early and share previous travel history with your healthcare provider.
This situation is evolving and we ask members to continue to check the below websites for the latests updates and guidance:
