Class Benefits

Benefits of Stretching Exercises

Not only do these stretching exercises, balance exercises and relaxation exercises target your mind, they provide numerous benefits to your body too.

Stretching lengthens and leans out your muscles, and supports your training and performance in the gym and everyday life. It helps prevent injury, and keeps your muscles and joints at their best.

Benefits of Balancing Exercises

Balancing exercises promote stability and strengthening in your body and muscles. They improve balance in all areas of your training, helping you master complex movement patterns in and out of the gym. Plus, they can help build your confidence and prevent injuries.

Benefits of Relaxation Exercises

Our relaxation classes are specifically designed to reduce stress, and leave you feeling like you’re floating on air. A perfect piece of mindfulness in your day, these exercises help stabilise your hormones and physical responses to stress, supporting your immune health, and your physical and mental health so you can be the happiest and healthiest version of yourself.

Each of these exercises has a place and an important role in your workout routine. They help you achieve your health goals by providing the perfect complement to higher intensity strength and cardio training, and support your mind and body along the way.

Fitness First offers a range of classes to help you achieve relaxation, balance and flexibility, and give you every chance of reaching your health goals.

BodyBalance

Combining yoga, tai chi and Pilates in a calming, centring workout to build flexibility and strength. Expect controlled breathing, intense focus, and a structured series of stretches, moves and active poses for a full body workout which will leave you feeling balanced and restored. BodyBalance is for you if you’re looking to improve flexibility, increase core strength, build strength, and leave feeling relaxed and refreshed.

Dynamic Flow Yoga

This challenging, energising flow is designed to improve strength, flexibility and stamina. A contemporary version of Vinyasa Yoga, the dynamic sequencing will offer you asanas and poses suited towards your body’s needs, to help you tune into your breath and mind and deliver to your body what it calls for. With regressions and advancements to each pose available, you’ll leave feeling grounded, calm and centred.

Flow Yoga

Our signature Yoga class builds strength and leaves you energised, taking you through a series of stretches and poses designed to teach you to control your breathing while being challenged in a full-body workout. You’ll develop a mind-body connection to keep you grounded both on and off your mat, and will leave feeling lighter and brighter after each class. Our Flow Yoga classes improve posture, core strength, flexibility and range of motion, and reduce stress levels.

Hot Flow Yoga

Set in a studio heated to 32-35°C, your practice will be more intense, detoxifying and cleansing than a traditional yoga class. The heat adds challenge, yet also encourages blood flow, improves flexibility, and keeps your muscles and joints warm and limber. This class builds coordination, concentration and mental focus, using breath work, balancing exercises and a combination of postures to help you feel balanced, cleansed and rejuvenated.

Stretch

This class should become a regular part of your fitness routine - after all, it’s designed to support you to achieve your health and fitness goals, and prevent injury along the way. You’ll improve your joint and muscle flexibility to maximise the effectiveness and results of your workouts, leaving your feeling limber and improving muscle recovery simultaneously. This is a must for anyone, from beginner to advanced.

Tai Chi

A traditional Chinese martial art, this practice promotes a focus and refining of the mind body connection, decreasing stress and anxiety and helping you feel energised and refreshed. You’ll be guided through a series of slow, controlled movements and postures, designed to build strength and balance, coordination and flexibility in your body, while grounding and centring your mind at the same time.

Yin Yoga

A slower practice than a traditional flow class, yin yoga guides you through a series of long holds and passive poses focused on the lower body and its connective tissues, to promote healing and recovery, flexibility and balance, and prevent injury. This class is restorative, gentle and calming, and you’ll leave feeling longer, moving freely and fluidly, with a quiet, peaceful mind and restored body.

Yoga

Learn how to quieten and calm your mind throughout a series of gentle stretches and postures. This low-intensity class energises the body while relaxing the mind, increasing mobility and flexibility while building strength and stamina. You’ll leave with a sense of wellbeing and peacefulness, with your mind and body more connected and harmonious.
