I have always wanted to be fit, really fit. The kind of fit people can tell just by loking at you. Unfortunately at the time I was 125kgs and the only thing scary about me was the fact that if I didn't do anything about my health I would be dead by 40. So at 34, very fat and a bit embarrassed I joined Innaloo Fitness First on their opening weekend in October 2005.
I was quickly assigned a personal trainer, Jesse Tann. He must have been a bit worried for our 2nd meeting because I collapsed during our first session! The next few weeks were a mixture of exercise and pain. Pain I never thought possible…..mental and physical!
Eventually the weight was coming off and my clothes were looser. By January 2006 I was below 100kgs and more determined to achieve my goal of 75kgs.
Over the next few months I got a new Personal Trainer. Rayce Davey brought a new focus to my training. Rayce has overseen a huge transformation in me physically and mentally. Physically he has helped me meet my weight loss goals…I have lost 50 kgs since joining and now am actually starting to tone and build.
Mentally Rayce has taught me to focus on life and what it has to offer. Losing an enormous amount of weight frees you from a lot of poor self esteem and it takes a special insightful person to show you what you are capable of. Rayce is such a person and I am indebted to him for the care, wisdom and patience he has chosen to show me, particularly when I am not being "a good client" and not doing what I am told.
The Cycle/RPM program at the gym has also been an integral part of my program. 6-7 sessions of Cycle/Rpm per week has really helped shift the weight and I love the loud music and atmosphere. The people I have met during these classes are fantastic. I am also indebted to many of the staff of Innaloo. THANKYOU!
If there was any advice I could give to someone just embarking on a fitness program I would say be determined, set realistic goals and surround yourself with positive supportive people. These things have been the keys to achieving my early goals.
