Learning to swim

Learning how to swim is an ongoing process that develops over a period of time. It is important to remember that children learn and pick up skills at different rates and need to practice their swimming and water safety skills on a regular basis.

If children do have a break from lessons and practise, their ability to perform certain skills they once mastered will either be regressed or completely forgotten. A risk no parent or guardian should want to take. In addition, upon returning back to lessons the instructor may need to revise those previously learnt skills before progressing to more advanced skills.

We recommend that the best way to keep your child water safe, is once you have made the decision to have your child start lessons, that this commitment is ongoing, not only is it a fun way to meet new friends but also has the added benefits of a low impact exercise and is a skill that they will have for life!
